Privacy

Sentiment data refreshes every few hours. Not financial advice.

The short version

stocksent has no accounts, no sign-up and no login, and sets no cookies of its own. Two Google services do set cookies here: the ads, and Google Analytics, which counts visits so we know which pages are worth keeping. Both can be opted out of through Google's own settings. The Reddit content shown here is public content, quoted in excerpt and always linked back to its source.

What we collect from you

No account, nothing you have to give us. There is no sign-up and no newsletter. The only thing you can send us is a message through the contact form, and only what you choose to type into it — an address there is optional, and used solely to reply.

Visit statistics. Google Analytics records that a page was viewed, along with the usual technical details a browser sends: approximate location from your IP address, device and browser, and which site referred you. We use it only to see which pages people actually read. We never send it anything that identifies you personally, because we do not have anything.

One local setting. If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser's own local storage under stocksent-theme. It never leaves your device and is not a cookie. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Ordinary server logs. Our host records standard request information — IP address, time, page requested, browser user-agent — as part of operating a web server. We use it only to keep the site running and diagnose faults, and we do not link it to anything else.

Ads, cookies and third parties

Ads here are served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners set and read cookies, and use web beacons and your IP address, to serve and measure ads — including personalising them based on your prior visits to this and other sites. None of that reaches us; we see aggregate earnings only.

You can turn personalised advertising off at Google Ads Settings, opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on, and read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Where the law requires consent for non-essential cookies, Google's own consent mechanisms apply.

Who receives data. Google — ads and visit statistics, as above. Fly.io — hosting; serves this site and keeps standard server logs. cdn.plot.ly — the charting library loads from this CDN, which sees your IP address as it serves the file. Anthropic — post and comment text is sent to Claude to classify sentiment; it is not used to train models. Web3Forms — delivers the contact form, so what you type there and any address you supply pass through it on the way to our inbox. We do not sell data, and we share nothing beyond this.

Reddit content we store

The dashboard is built from public posts and comments in a fixed list of stock-market subreddits. For each item we keep its text, score, timestamp and permalink, so that the sentiment history stays reproducible and each item is analysed once rather than repeatedly.

Usernames. We store the author of each post and comment for one purpose: to reconstruct who is replying to whom, so a thread can be read in order. Before any analysis the names are replaced with positional labels — OP, u1, u2 — and they are never displayed on this site, never returned by any part of it, and never shared with anyone.

Excerpts, not copies. Posts and comments appear as short extracts, each linked to the original on Reddit, so you are always sent to the source rather than kept on a reproduction of it.

Deletions propagate. Items are re-fetched from Reddit while they stay inside the tracking window, so content deleted or removed on Reddit drops out of the dashboard on the next scan.

If you posted something here

If you are a Reddit user and want your content excluded from this dashboard, send the permalink or your username through the contact form and we will remove it and exclude it from future scans. You do not need to explain why. Deleting the content on Reddit also works, and takes effect on the next scan.

The same form handles any question about the data held here, including a request for a copy of it or its erasure. Leave an address if you would like a reply. If you are in the EEA or the UK and are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can complain to your national data-protection authority.
